Are bears stronger than lions?

Today I saw this headline in my gmail:

Bears pound Lions on ground

I was trying to picture bears pounding lions, and it just wasn't making sense. I don't think bears and lions live in the same areas of the world, unless it's at a zoo or circus, but even then, why would bears attack lions?

Then I saw the ESPN part, and it all fell into place; the article was about sports teams, not furry animals. But what if it was actual bears pounding actual lions? I think that would make an interesting scene in a story.
